What is the Oxidation number?
It is the number of electrons lost or gained by an atom of a element in that compound.
Oxidation number is also called Oxidation sate.
Example of oxidation numbers/oxidation state
The Oxygen ion (O2−) has an oxidation number of −2 because it can donate two electrons.
Some elements have the same oxidation number for every compound. Like Fluorine has -2 oxidation number on its all compound and so on.
Steps to find oxidation number
